NOA and National Orientation Agency Unite Against Eye Health Misinformation
A strategic step forward for eye health in Nigeria.
On March 30, 2026, the Nigerian Optometric Association (NOA) met with the National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Abuja to explore a working partnership focused on tackling misinformation around eye care.
The discussion centred on improving public awareness, especially in the face of misleading social media content and unregulated eye health promotions.
With the Agency’s wide media reach, including over 200 radio stations across the country, this collaboration will support the delivery of clear, accurate, and culturally relevant eye health messages to communities nationwide.
Key outcomes:
• A formal partnership process has commenced
• A joint committee will develop an operational framework
• A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will be established
This partnership aligns with the Agency’s CHLEEAN Initiative, placing strong emphasis on health education and responsible public information.
The Nigerian Optometric Association remains committed to protecting vision, promoting proper eye care, and ensuring Nigerians receive the right information at the right time.
